About me
I'm Viktor Chukanov, a CAMTC-certified massage therapist and the founder of Viktor's Massage Deep Tissue Recovery Center in Roseville.
I don't rely on fancy talk. I'd rather let my work speak for itself.
How I got here
My path started in Russia. My first teacher had been practicing massage for more than 50 years. For a long time massage was a hobby for me — friends, family, friends of friends. A few years before I moved to the U.S., it became my profession.
In California I continued my education at the Massage Therapy Institute in Davis. I trained and worked at Get Me Going's Medical Massage Center in Roseville, focusing on deep tissue, therapeutic and sports recovery work.
I worked alongside physical therapists at Folsom Physical Therapy and Training Center, and with clients in El Dorado County — mostly chronic pain, muscle tension and recovery after injuries.
I've also volunteered at marathons, golf tournaments and community health events, working with athletes, cancer patients and healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente.
Then I opened my own practice: a place for recovery, movement and real results.
How I work
No two sessions are the same. Sometimes the work is fast and intense, sometimes slow and precise. It depends on what your body needs that day.
I work point by point, not by area. I feel each muscle with my fingers — where it's tight, and the moment it starts to let go. I start gently and go deeper layer by layer.
During the session I'll ask you to move — turn your head, lift your arm, make the movement that hurt — to check what changed.
Whether you're an athlete pushing your limits, someone who trains for fun, or someone dealing with everyday pain and stiffness, my goal is the same: help your body work the way it's meant to.
Why I do this
To me, a tight muscle is a locked door. I have a ring of keys — my hands, my techniques, my experience — and the challenge is to find the right key, and find it fast.
The best part of my job is the moment someone gets up from the table and says, "It hurt before. Now it doesn't." Or, "I couldn't turn my head. Now I can." That's when I know I'm doing what I'm supposed to be doing.
As a husband and the father of two daughters who grew up in rhythmic gymnastics, swimming and diving, I know how much it matters to keep the body moving well at any age. [keep this line?]
When the tight spots let go, your body moves the way it's supposed to. That's what Spread Your Wings means to me.
Try it once.
Your body will tell you everything you need to know. The body doesn't lie.
